“Why you have to go and make me like you, I’m so mad at you, ’cause now you got me missing you,” may be what Gwen Stefani sings on her new single, but is it maybe more than that? Is she actually speaking about her new, post-divorce relationship with fellow The Voice coach, Blake Shelton?
Well, if it is or isn’t, who cares! Gwen brought back the fun, pop-punk, princess attitude she has given us since 90s No Doubt hits (think “Don’t Speak,” “Spiderwebs”) on the Disco Pop tune “Make Me Like You.” The flirty single, released just in time for spring, retains the authentic Gwen vibe from the past but also has the modern Dance/Pop/Funk elements that helped make Maroon 5’s “Sugar” and Katy Perry’s “Birthday” recent Disco hits.
The live music video for “Make Me Like You” is set to take place during the 58th Annual Grammy Awards this Monday. Gwen Stefani continues to make interesting, yet modern moves with her long awaited, ten year in the making solo comeback. Its recently announced parent album, This Is What The Truth Feels Like, is set to be released on March 18th.
